Chinese Elm

The Chinese Elm also known as Ulmus Parvifolia, is related to the common Elm tree and is native to China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. This bonsai can produce a dense network of twigs adorned with toothed leathery leaves. The Chinese Elm is resistant to many common pests and can moderately tolerate a salty environment. The bark on the trunk is especially interesting in that the bark flakes to reveal colors ranging from grays, beiges to some tones of red.
